Collaborative efforts for victim survivor

Nora, facing imminent departure from Australia after her ex-husband cancelled her visa sponsorship, urgently needed help filing divorce documents. The Court registry referred Nora to PCLC’s FASS duty lawyer, who provided immediate support and prepared Nora’s documents with interpreter assistance.

Nora was very distressed as she had lived in Australia for a decade. She was facing unemployment in her country of origin and applying for a divorce would have been difficult and expensive once she left Australia. Nora was able to file her documents on-the-spot the same day, before leaving the country a matter of hours later.

The case highlights FASS’s vital role in urgent situations for clients experiencing vulnerabilities.
