Legal Information Session – 5 June 2025

March 26, 2025

FREE LEGAL INFORMATION SESSION FOR OLDER PEOPLE

The Peninsula Community Legal Centre and Respecting Seniors Network will be hosting a free legal information session on 5 June 2025. The event is supported by the Mornington Peninsula Shire and Frankston City Council.

The session will provide useful information on wills, powers of attorney, and medical decision making. Knowledge of these legal issues can help in the prevention of financial and emotional abuse of older people.

Speakers from the Peninsula Community Legal Centre and Seniors Rights Victoria will share some common pitfalls and helpful tips for avoiding problems in order to protect the rights of older people in regard to their assets and their wishes.

Award winning speaker Catherine Ashton will MC the event and will also talk about what to do when a loved one dies. There will be a chance to ask the experts questions in a Q & A session, as well as the opportunity to pick up resources on wills, powers of attorney, advance care directives, what to do when a loved one dies and more.

The Information Session on Wills, Medical Decision Making and What to Do When A Loved One Dies will be held at the Safety Beach Sailing Club and Community Centre, 185 Marine Drive Safety Beach on Thursday 5 June 2025 from 10.00am – 1:00pm. Morning tea will be provided.

Free transport for those who would not otherwise be able to attend can be arranged by contacting the Frankston Council on 1300 322 322, or the Mornington Peninsula Shire on  5950 1605.

The session is free, but please register by calling Peninsula Community Legal Centre on (03) 9783 3600, or by email at pclc@pclc.org.au or via this link https://events.humanitix.com/pclc-elder-forum-free-legal-information-session:
