Community Legal Education
Our community legal education activities connect us with vulnerable people who need legal help and those who work with and support them.
We organise and participate in local events, raise awareness of legal issues through local radio, media and newsletters and develop and deliver a range of talks and workshops on legal issues.
Recent activities have reached people who have disabilities, sole parents, people experiencing family violence, drug and alcohol addiction, psychiatric illness, adults learning English, people with low education, seniors at risk of elder abuse and many other people who are vulnerable to exploitation and unsure how to progress their legal issues – or who hadn’t realised they had legal issues at all.
Community and legal assistance partners add tremendous value to our work by sharing their complementary expertise, knowledge of community needs and practical support like venues, promotion and catering for events. We commonly partner with specialist and generalist community legal centres, health and education providers, local councils, government departments and a range of community organisations.
We maintain strong connections with our community and support many local and regional networks and partnerships.
